I bought this honey bun  and completely loved the fabrics...I ended going with a log cabin type design so I ended up having to buy another honey bun...I spent quite a while on this bad boy and kind of got sick of the colors BUT I did like how it turned out after quilting Smiley I think this quilt is going to a friend who has been waiting patiently for the last year for one of my quilts Smiley hehe. Enjoy!!!!

I love these fabrics!  Smiley Seriously. I love the fabrics, but I'm not a huge fan of this quilt now that you've got better photos of it.  I think it'd look better with a jelly roll instead of a honey bun..or maybe with just with larger chunks of only some of the fabrics.

Either way...it's still really cool!

(how's that for criticism?)

I am working on a black and red "Drunk Love 2 Tone"/wonky log cabin quilt for my little sister as a "thank you" for watching my kids while I go to doctors apt. and while I have this baby (she has been asking me for awhile now when I am going to make her a red and black quilt and I keep telling her never so now I have to hide this stupid thing. lol) I really dislike the color red for some reason and the more I look at this quilt the more I really dislike it. I will be glad when my house is no longer taken over with red fabric pieces (they are everywhere) and thread! It only makes it worse that I have had to stop working on it 100% of the time to do a few other projects that needed attention ASAP! grrrr I want it done.
point of the story...I feel your pain of getting tired of looking at the same fabric!

This quilt turned out great I am sure your friend will not mind the wait for such an awesome gift!

lol I feel I must mention that I actually know Whoopdedoo_5 in person...and she's been saying for a while she didn't like this quilt as much.  I loved it and I loved the fabrics, but now that she's got it up, I don't love it as much as I did before.

I knew when I posted that somebody would be all "OMG mean criticism!" but since I know her, I figured I'd be honest and she'd be cool with it. I'd expect the same from her, and any other craftster, as long as they're not being mean for the sake of being mean. I post my work for honest critique, not just for praise.

I love the Hello Betty line...and I think she did a fabulous job sewing this quilt, but I think with her awesome sense of fabric, she could pick just some of the fabrics from the line and do an even better quilt. Smiley

I know that Gramma Deener would be excited to get this quilt if you can't find anybody to give it away to. Wink If you list it on etsy she'd probably even pay for it!

You quilt has a retro vibe.  Log cabin, in all the variations, is my favorite pattern.  I'm sure the recipient will be very happy.

I'd like to say again, great work on the quilt.  I just know how much of a fabric fiend you are and that you weren't as excited about this quilt last time I'd talked to you.

Either way.. normally I don't give even a hint of negative critiques on posts, but since I know you, I figured I'd be safe, especially since it's helpful to get critiques sometimes and because people on craftster are sometimes way too nice in their critiques and that's not very helpful always.

Anyway... if you randomly mail me the quilt, I'd love it to death. Wink

For what it's worth I think your critique was perfectly acceptable. You weren't mean spirited and you gave your honest opinion. You also offered some good points on how you think it could have been done differently to maybe showcase the fabrics. If all anyone every does is "oh and ah" we will never grow - not that whoopdedoo isn't a fine quilter, I love most of her stuff and the stuff I don't love is simply because it "isn't me".

My critique would be similar - great work and lovely fabrics just a little too chopped up for my tastes.
