The back story to this project is my friend Christy Nelson has a monthly craft challenge, (packets are $5.00) and she has some pretty cool prizes, so I decide to join in.  The April packet included a piece of green felt, a piece of burlap, two cloths pins, some rhinestones, and four green paper circles.  The rules are that you can make anything that you want, but you have to use at least a little bit of everything in the packet.
After playing around with the cloths pins I decided to make a fertility Goddess shrine.

I made the outer box from cereal boxes laminated together and shaped around a can.  I used the felt, paper circles and rhinestones to decorate the interior.

I used the burlap to decorate the outside and to make the hair for the Goddess figure

The Goddess is my favorite part, the shape of a dissected clothes pin inspired the entire project and I used polymer clay to accent it.  I used part of the other cloths pin to make the feet for the shrine.  If you want to see some of the other fabulous entries check out the flickr gallery.

I love it! Think I'll have to make a shrine of my own.

Thanks everyone  Grin I hadn't made a shrine from scratch before, it was a lot easier than I thought it would be!

What a great idea! It looks fantastic, especially the goddess figure.

I'd make one of my own, but I'm afraid my boyfriend wouldn't like having a fertility shrine around the house. He'd probably burn it just to be on the safe side. lol  Cheesy

Now that you mention it, I don't really need a fertility shrine around, I have two children and I'm not sure that I could handle any more  Grin  maybe it's a mother Goddess shrine.  Mother's day is coming up, yeah, it's a mother Goddess shrine, celebrating mothers everywhere!!!
