I am in a 2 year Textile Art program, and last semester we had a few weeks of tapestry.  This was my final project.  I thought I would share it here with everyone, because I know you would appreciate the time that went into it.  It was inspired by an ancient German tapestry in a book my teacher had.  I wish his face was different Cheesy

This calls for a very special blend of psychology and extreme violence.

This is awesome! I have a book of medieval needlepoint designs and it looks like some of the stuff in there.

i'm not very good at explaining things.. so i'll try my best lol

the warp strings were held tight on a frame loom (picture found on google for example:  http://farm1.static.flickr.com/164/362044944_6db4491c7f.jpg?v=0) and then you have a picture pinned on to the strings behind and you just weave in the blocks of color by hand.... i hope that makes sense, i'm sure i'm missing more details than that lol

That's a great woven piece.

So how to you beat the weft into place?

Have a good day!

i used a tapestry bobbin, it holds the yarn and you use it to pick up the warp and beat down the weft...
