String art earrings?

Does anyone know of a tutorial for those earrings that use string/thread to make designs that look kind of like what you would make on a spirograph or in string art?  Do these particular earrings have a name and where would you get the base from?  I have seen the earrings a few times but that is the only way I know how to describe them.  If anyone could point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated.

At least some of the earrings using the spirelli techniques around wrapped wire have been called "Pervian Thread Earrings"... like these:

Do you know if you can buy the teardrop earrings prepared, or if you gotta make the base from scratch?  I think I read you wrap a smaller gauge wire around a larger gauge.

I don't know if you can buy them premade, but I'd assume that you'd just wrap a smaller thinner wire around a stiffer one (creating or wrapping to leave a tiny bit of space between?), then bend the wrapped wire around a form or jig of some kind --or freehand if you're practiced enough-- and make some kind of connection on the ends for joining together and perhaps adding a jumpring or connector for the earring or other finding (a loop on each end could be placed together flat, e.g., then a jumpring placed through the loops...etc).

You might want to check out this similar technique done with wire and polymer clay where a thin wire is wrapped around a heavier wire (completely or in places, sometimes changing color or adding beads/etc), then made into various shapes:

....you could use metal craft wire, or (more easily) PVC coated wire like phone wire or a plain wire. This would work as both decorative trim and a way to get a loop for hanging.  Linda Goff
