Hey all Cheesy
I have been on the hunt for a recipe for yummy cafe style banana bread for a long time.
Most recipes produced sad cake looking things that were dry and crumbly and hardly slice able.
I was searching around yesterday for a good recipe and found this one:
http://www.smh.com.au/news/recipes/baking-better-banana-bread/2007/06/18/1182019011927.html
I read over the ingredients and was a bit surprised but thought what the hey I'd give it a  go.......
And oh boy!
It is SO GOOD!
It is yummy and dense and moist and more like the cafe style bread I have been craving!
I managed to get hubby to help me (he is a stranger to the kitchen) so it didn't take very long at all.
Cheesy

Mmmmm the crunchy sugary almond topping is terribly tasty!
Cheesy
Thanks for looking Cheesy

This is very similar to a recipe that I have except I use five bananas in mine and I actually roast them in the oven for ten minutes. The recipe is in David Rosengarten's It's All American Food. You should check it out! It has Cinnamon Crumble topping. Yummmm!

Bill's recipes are always fabulous. The coconut bread recipe a little further on in that article is fantastic. Looks plain, but toast a thick slice and serve with lemon butter (curd) for brunch and you are set.

I am a terribly impatient person and have a terrible oven so I dont know if I could roast my bananas-even for ten minutes. Yes, I am VERY impatient! Cheesy

Yeah my bananas weren't quite as mushy as they should have been! I just got the hubby to mash them up good and they were fine. Probably not as strong flavoured but thats ok, I'm easy to please with sweet things!

Cheesy
