Silver petals skirt

Going to a friend's wedding this weekend, and wanted something pretty and funky to wear. Also, I've been meaning to do something with these beautiful fabrics forever!



It's a very basic a-line skirt that I traced from another that I really liked, made of a dove grey raw silk fabric.

Then I cut lots of circles of different sizes of a lighter and darker grey taffeta, and burned the edges to keep them from unravelling. Each flower is two circles, sewed on with two stitches--I was thinking about sewing them on with french knots or beads or something, but I ended up liking the simple stitches best. If you pull the stitches a little bit tight, they make the flowers lift up from the skirt a little, to give it more dimension.
