I know there have been a few of these in the past, but that was before I was a swapper and now I wanna join one! Basically there is a set number of items to send, each with a specific category such as polka dot or fuzzy and you must craft one item for each category. For instance the swap may have 10 categories like: green, vintage, soft, tiny, local, found, polka dot, animal, texture, and whimsy. You would then craft/find 10 different items, one for each category. You may have an item that fits more than one category, but you've got to choose one for it. If the item list is 10 items then you must send 10, not more or less. In the past I think they were themed too, like paper craft or yarn.

I don't want to organize, I just want to participate. I don't care what the theme is either, as long as it isn't specific to sewing or quilting because I have no working sewing machine at the moment.

Anyone else interested?

That sounds like a cool idea. I'm all booked up at the moment though.

Umm, me too. . . always!  Cheesy That's I wanted to get the planning started, so I wouldn't get caught off guard and not have time. At least a month out would be good for me.

I tried to look it up and only found a yarn one. I don't really do anything like that so I personally would want it a little more open.

Still it is an awesome idea. I'm seriously considering organizing this. It wouldn't be for awhile, however. I'll have to look into the possibilities.

You might want to take a look at this scavenger hunt.

I think this is probably more of what you want.  If this one opened up, I'd join in a heartbeat.

ohhhh I like the sounds of that one!
I know there was also at least one papercraft version not too long ago.

Yeah, I saw that one and it looked like a lot of fun. Better than yarn too because it left a lot more open to the imagination. Or it could be a total free for all, craft these categories, but choose your medium.

Thanks for the link pinokeeo. I think I will organize one, though I'll probably take ideas from all of the previous ones I've found and come up with my own. There were alot of good ideas from them all.

So what would be a good time? I'll probably need to wait til at least mid May if not the beginning of June.  I'll do some more brainstorming and then run my ideas here to see what people think.

I did that papercraft swap.  It was a lot of fun, but I think it would be more fun to start with a list and size requirements and then do your own thing.  Gives you a broader spectrum to work in.

I agree. There are only 2 things I'm not in love with from the linked swap- #1. Not really into the prizes and #2. I think I'd prefer a shorter list. I like the idea of having to use every item on the list because then everyone is using the same starting point and coming up with totally different crafts. If we have 50 items and people can pick and choose the end result isn't as cool, to me anyway.
