Hello everyone,

You may have noticed here and there that we have integrated a whole bunch of how-to videos into Craftster. These videos come from 5min.com which is a site all about hosting videos that explain just about anything under the sun in 5 minutes or less.

For now you can access these videos via the home page (scroll down towards the bottom) on Craftster and via a strip of video thumbnails that appears in the right-hand column whenever you are looking at a thread on Craftster.

Here's an example video:

How to Cross-Stitch In 5 Minutes

http://www.craftster.org/video/How-to-Cross-Stitch-In-5-Minutes-8253

You can even upload your own how-to videos to 5min.com if you'd like.

We look forward to hearing what people think of this and hope this is a fun addition to Craftster!

Ok, I didn't click on any of them, but they look a lot better than some of the stuff that's been on here.  I'm actually looking forward to checking out some of these.

Thanks, Leah.

Oh man!

I just went to the home page to look for a new article (I'm totally addicted to the articles, btw... I check for them almost as often as I click on "replies to your posts"! Anyhoo...) and the "you're missing a plug in" message popped up!

Now, I get this on failblog, and news sites, etc, because one of my dear co-workers has deleted the plug-in I need to watch video.  It never bothered me before because I don't have any headphones and wouldn't be able to hear the sound in them anyway, but now...

Now these videos on Craftster make me wish it worked!  I'm going to have to wait until I get home to see them!  (whine, whine, complain, complain...)

The videos seem like a fantastic idea to me!

The video thingo has made Craftster VERY slow to load for me. In China they tend to crack down on videos (Youtube has been down for a month) and anything with videos can go crazy for no reason.

Maybe make the videos clickable to begin? That would save bandwidth and stop me having to use a pro_xy (that word trips certain sensors here) to visit Craftster.

I think this is an excellent idea. I planned on using you tube to learn to knit, but I don't have the needles yet. Grin

What I would really love is if there was a place for craftsters to share pdf files with tutorials. It could be available to all friends of craftster. That way ghilie wouldn't have to email the pattern and instructions.

I made a pdf of one of my favorite tutes and asked the creator if she wanted me to send it to her so she can do likewise.

The reason I ask, is there are a few things I could make tutorials for, but I can't post them here or myspace, flikr, blogspot etc.

Cannot tell you how much I have been inspired here. T

Why can't you post them here?  Lots of tutorials are posted without a problem.

Is there a list of videos available? I'd almost prefer a list to the sequential thumbnails. It gets kind of tedious pushing the "Next" button in each category over and over just to see what's there.

Am I just doing it wrong?  Huh
