Hmmm... let's see here

What do I mean by no commercial brands? Don't grab a pound of Starbucks off your grocer's shelf. If you can, support a local coffee roaster/tea house. If there's not one in your area, search out something a little bit different, even look online. Lots of coffee roasters sell online (not sure about tea) and you could have them ship directly to your partner the same time you mail your crafts!

Ostera, I hope you will sign up for this swap. Isn't there a Bad Ass Coffee Company in Hawaii? I've been to one in Park City, UT and I thought there was one in Hawaii, too. If I remember correctly, they had some yummy brew! Plus, we are not even 24 hours into the sign ups, there will likely be someone to pair you with!

Beans vs. ground? They weigh the same before and after! Ask your partner what they prefer. I'm way too tired and cranky in the morning to grind beans, so I'd like in ground, but I have no problem sending beans to a partner either. Again, it must be a PNW thing, but I can't imagine a place where there isn't a wall full of different coffee beans and the barista looks at you like your nuts when you ask them to grind it.

Did I miss any important questions? I'll be checking in again later!

I signed up! There is a local coffee shop here that makes its own exciting tea blends, so I'm planning to get stuff for my partner there. They stopped having my favorite, but their new stuff is good too.

Also, if you're buying for a tea person (I know nothing about coffee) health food stores and co-ops that sell bulk herbs and such usually have bulk teas that you can't get everywhere.

And if you are in the UK sending to someone in the US, we don't have Marks and Spencers and Sainsbury's and other typical UK department store teas - that would definitely be something different for Americans. (Although I guess that's not quite supporting local business.)

I signed up. Please let me know if you got my message, as I'm still trying to figure this out and I'm not sure I did it right.

There is lots of local coffee here, but since everything is catered toward tourism it's expensive, I have to be picky lol.

No, but it's different, and, really, I think it's about trying something new!

Tell us more about the coffee subscription please!

Well I don't like to give away my good secrets, but since I'm in a place with like-minded people Wink  Here's the link to the place I used:
http://www.thebeanshop.com/shop/detail.asp?prodid=100036
They do a few different subscriptions, 6 months, 12 months, 12 months LARGE, decaff 12 months, etc Smiley  I got the 12 months one for Mr Loops bday, it was such a treat every month, nyum nyum Wink

I also found this place that offers coffee subscriptions (UK again), though I haven't tried them

YAY!  I have a list of ideas already!  We used to have Marks and Spencer in Canada, but they closed down here years ago.  Such a shame, because they had lovely foods and bath products, as well as clothes.  I miss them.
