Seriously. I bought these at the half price day at the cancer society garage sale several years ago just because they intrigued me but I have no idea what they might have been, or might become. Any help out here?

they look to me like they are lamp bases, kind of like the ones you can fill with stuff. you would just need to get the actual electric parts to them and probably a wide supporting base.

of course, they could be used for all sorts of things, depending on your imagination Cheesy

Knobs, Christmas ornaments, fishing floats?

Are they glass or plastic?

I don't know what they were but I also think they need to be lamp bases! They will be really pretty lamps at that.

They seem a bit small to be lamp bases, don't they? Though you could certainly make a billion little lamps out of them.

I have no helpful information, but I just have to quote Black Books here

Fran: [offering Bernard a mysterious object] Bernard, do you want this? Buy this.
    Bernard: What is it?
    Fran: It's a thing.
    Bernard: Is it?
    Fran: Yes.
    Bernard: What does it do?
Fran: [after considering] It's very in.
Bernard: You don't know what it is, do you?
    Fran: I-it's very now!

I considered that they might be lamp parts but when they are together on that plastic tube with the threaded end fastened on there is no place for wiring to go. These things consist of the glass parts, a hollow plastic tube with threading on the ends and a threaded metal cap for each end. They originally alternated the sphere and the other shape on the tubes.  I changed them when playing with them as I liked how they nested next to each other this way.

My first thought was that they we some kind of finial... but the lamp base makes sense too.  Maybe the wiring would go through the tube and there would be a stand for it to screw to at the bottom instead of the caps?

I dare to love forever

I need to destash a ton of yarn and fabric.  Send me a PM if you'd like to do a personal swap for some.

I really want the (empty) glass skull bottle that Crystal Head vodka comes in, so PM me if you're willing to swap me one!
