So, i found an old wooden bedside table from when i was little (sorry no picture, just use your imagination for this one Smiley )

and when i say old I mean aged, not cool and vintagey.

Well, Being the child i was, it was also pretty battered, deep ingrained scribbles, half peeled off stickers, that sort of thing. Apart from that, the table was still pretty strong and sturdy and i need a bedside table, so I thought I'd 'reconstruct' it.

Obviously, i couldn't settle for a simple paint job, so i thought i'd reivent it as a modern table...
by papier machee-ing it with bits of colourful magazine!

I really like how it turned out, but what do yous think?

(p.s. sorry about picture quality, my camera leaves alot to be desired)

Awesome table!  What a great way to personalize a piece with images of things you love.

I wouldn't either I know me it would take me forever to do a craft like that it would end up just being put away until a later date.. but after i got it done i would be so proud of myself. I'm glad to see that you are!

Wow! That's awesome!
Do you mind me asking if you varnished it and what type of varnish did you use?

i didn't varnish it, i just painted another layer of glue ontop, which made it shiny, but thats bad news if i spill something Tongue

You know what the best thing is about this? If you scratch it up or accidentally peel part of it off or have any future damage - it's no big deal! You can just patch it, or even recover it over again if you want to make it look different! I know that for me it's always a relief to surround myself with furniture I don't have to worry about hurting in any way - makes me feel really comfortable in the room!

And I love the collage look!

Great table!  I did something similar with train tickets, receipts, bits & pcs of things I've collected while traveling.  Yours turned out way better Smiley
