For Painting 2P02 last semester one of our assignments was to create a collage/montage out of stuff of one colour- a monochrome.

here's my collage! (the colours are off because i took this picture at night using overhead lighting- I know, I know- I usually take photos using daylight, but the collage has long since been destroyed, so I couldn't retake it. oh wellz)

Then we had to paint it as a trompe l'oeil (trick of the eye) which basically meant make it look as if your canvas is your collage. render as accurately as possible. here is mine:

upper left corner detail- glass fishtank stones, beads, a moosehead bottlecap

bottom left corner detail- fabric remnant, army man, bead

middleish detail- army men, feather, fabric, paper, birthday candles and more glass stones

buttons, pins, stones

ribbon, paper, beads (sorry about the glare, didn't notice it until I put the pic in the post!)

acrylic on canvas, 24x30". and there you have it! thanks for looking and c+c always welcomed

Amazing detail.  At first I thought it was stuck to a canvas.  When I saw the close ups I could tell. very good.  Love it.

I wish I could paint like this. But, alas, the talent escapes me. This ROCKS!
