wow!  definitely some eclectic fabric tastes among these groups Wink  the red batik keeps luring my eyes back Smiley

Homerof2 - I originally was making symetrical strips (fabric on one end matching the start fabric with a focus in the middle ie red white black turquoise black white red)) but after looking at a lot of the strip patterns I decided they might be easier to use if they were instead repeatable (red white black turquoise white black) that way the pattern is maintained if you decide to cut the strip in half and sew the red side to the black.

Maremare- I have 3 different sets of fabric for the 5 people in our group I have definitely pinpointed what fabrics I'm sending to 3 people but I am in limbo about the other two...my one group of fabrics I cut up completely (no scraps) and it made 4 sets (it was great as I had bought .3 of 5 fabrics and I planned to give the extra sets to my nieces) my other group of fabrics made 3 sets (which was good cause I wanted to keep one as the colors suit me) and I had again bought .3 of the 4 of them.  My last set I haven't cut up yet the fabric for it is really different colors for me and I'm not who they will suit the best Wink 6 has been my favorite number for the strips but I did a do some with 5, 7, and one insane one with 8 they are all different how they repeat and the widths.

My question is how is everyone pressing their seam allowances?

I figured that I would probably have to re-press as needed to accomodate the end design anyway so I pressed all mine in one direction.

Wow that sounds fun rectangel! And complicated!

One group I'm doing 1 strip of each fabric, with symmetrical widths, and the other group has multiples of each fabric arranged symmetrically. Both are odd numbers with a larger width focus fabric in the middle. What can I say, I like symmetry! I guess however everyone does it adds to the challenge!  Cheesy

I'm pressing mine in all the same direction.

Posting pics of the strips I've received Smiley  It's interesting to me how the colorways of most work together eventhough I know planning out wasn't something we did I'm going to have fun working everything together!  It'll be my first time working with traditional for the most part too Smiley

I just wanted to note that I sent out all my strips except the one to klum78. I meant to contact her before she went out of town to see if she wanted to exchange in person, not sure when she's coming back....

I will be back later today.  I am sitting at the airport in Sacramento right now.  Smiley
I love the different colors you went with on your second set MareMare.  I will be working on my sets as soon as I get back home.  I needed to finish up my Weekenders before taking off to CA.

I received two sets from MareMare and am posting the picture.

They are both gorgeous.  I especially love the butterfly fabric.  Do you know the name of it, MareMare?  The other set with the turquoise and pink fabrics is wonderful too.  They both go together so well and yet are so different.

Thanks, MareMare!
