When adding pleats to a purse, do you pleat the lining also?  I can figure it out!   Huh  Any and all help greatly appreciated!   Smiley

Generally, you would not pleat the lining if the pleats are more of a design element rather than functional.  If you have a pattern, it should give you a lining pattern.  If not, pleat your outer fabric, then use it to draw a lining pattern piece.

Now if the design of the bag is to expand when in use (such as a tote), the lining may be pleated (such as at the corners or along the upper band).

I hope this is clear.  Essentially, you are designer...if you want a pleated lining, then use a pleated lining.  Think about the function of the bag and let function influence design.
