Baby is here - at long last!!

I've been wanting nightstands for quite a while and mentioned it on Facebook - and a friend who is moving gave me two for free!  They are sturdy, but have a veneer top and were pretty banged up.  I thought about just sticking them in my bedroom and not worrying about doing any work on them, but I was feeling crafty, so I got to work.  For now, I've only done one, but I plan to do the second in the same style.

I forgot to take a picture before doing anything - but I took a picture of the other nightstand since it looks more or less the same as the one I fixed.

I first painted green with a black crackle over top, but ended up changing my mind about that part later on.

I found a picture of a tree online and did a bit of editing to it before printing it out, pasting to two layers of cardstock and decoupaging it to the top of the nightstand.

After that was dry, I painted black over the whole thing and outlined the tree with green.

I ended up painting the whole thing black, sponge painting black over the sides and drawers and finally covering the whole thing in another coat of mod podge (all but the sides).

I also bought new hardware and I'm very happy with the end result!
