Hi there,

Here's another portrait of my boyfriend, Tim, this time with a beard. Since growing the beard he's had a lot of flack from people for looking a bit porn star-y, so I put him in some massive 80s sun glasses and fired away with my camera. I traced the photo and embroidered him...

I wanted to include detail and make it quite delicate so i stripped the thread down to 1 strand. The hair is satin stitch, the beard is done with small stabbing stitches and the chest hair is 'couching' stitch - at least I think it is - i laid the thread on top of the fabric and then bolted it down which a stitch - so perhaps that bit is the 'couch'?
Anyway, I would probably do the sunglasses a bit differently if i had to do it again. I would probably fill in the sun glass colour and then stitch eyes over the top of that rather than the other way round...but nevermind.
I hope you like it!
Thanks,
Roz

Wow, he's a good sport.  My DH would have a meltdown if I tried to photograph him shirtless - let alone embroider him and post the art on the internet.  Your man is very accommodating!

Your embroidery is lovely and unique.  I would never have thought of it.  Very nice.

thats so awesome. i like everything about it. i think you were right the first time, sunglasses go over the eyes, not the other way around. so it works.

It's great.
It feels like more of an early 1980's porn flick to me, but in saying that I've already given too much away.
And the chest hair is awesome/

Fabulous! I'm jealous of your laid back boyfriend who lets such things happen hehe.

The chest hair is done particuarly well- and yeah you couched the thread :-) Brilliant way of doing hair.
