Hey everyone

last post today, I promise. Tongue

Story goes: I have no purse for spring. I have 2 large-ish bookbags I use for school, but I have not a sinlge purse. (how on earth does that happen??) I'm so picky with purses it's ridiculous! I usually just carry around my wallet like a clutch and put my phone in my bra, but the one purse I had last year fell to pieces when I tried to use it at school in september, SO I searched all the tutorials I could find and decided that I liked this one the best: http://madebyrae.blogspot.com/2009/02/free-buttercup-bag-sewing-pattern.html

The only thing I changed was the type of closure and the length of the strap. I got both these fabrics on major sale at fabricland which pleased me very much, and the buttons are actually fabric brads that came in a big package at the dollar store. (how happy do you imagine I was when they magically matched both this bag and the wallet I also made!!?)

Okay okay, on to pictures:

hooray little double pocket inside!

with my sexay new-made wallet inside

for size reference (please don't judge, I would normally NEVER take a lame mirror pic but my tripod is packed away for moving in 10 days and I was too excited to wait for someone to come home)

so there it is, hope you like! c+c always welcome! hooray a purse!!

I had two thoughts when I read your post.  First, amazing bag! Your colors are really making me wish for spring.  I just made a bag using that tutorial, too.

Second, a warning about the phone in the bra thing.  My mom used to do that.  Mind you, she lives in Arkansas where it can be 110 degrees F in the summer.  She shorted out the screen on her flip phone and couldn't read the screen after she sweat all over it one day.  Gross thought I know.  who would ever have thought that ladies sweat, right?   Wink  Keep that in mind when you have electronics right next to your skin.

I'd love to do a personal swap for this knit Death Flake hat

purse is adorable! I have one that I bought from avon that looks almost the exact same style. And it's coming apart. So I may have to make one of these! I also love the long shoulder strap!
Great fabric choice, cute purse, excellent job! You should totally be proud!

thanks for the info disco queen, but thankfully I already thought of that little problem. I live in ontario and it's only really hot here in july and august, hence why i only carry a purse in the summer. Cheesy

Eliea: i AM totally proud!! thanks. Smiley
