¤¤¤Hey everyone!¤¤¤

We are just finishing a great apron embroidery swap. What a great fun we had chatting, planing and learning from each other! The gallery just started and is already beautiful! Stop by! The gals have been doing a great job!

Now...as Great Domestic Divas (vos) we have to plan ahead for the next swap...so how about an Embroidery my tote! swap theme?
I have been talking to Barb (barbolot), you know the Master of pincushion swaps, and some ideas came to the table to talk to you all!  What do you all think about swapping an EMBROIDED TOTE + a little thing    Oh, when I mean embroidering an tote..you don't need to go berserk..It could be the pocket, a nice monogram with flowers. The tote could be made by you or bought..we will discuss that here. Getting a RTU tote include the gals (guys) that don't have that extra time or do not know (yet  Wink ) to sew! The apron swap inspired some gals to learn a new craft! Be quick..and spread the word!
What do you think about sign ups around May 1st and send outs at first week of June? A month to work on the project....and then get your brand new Embroided TOTE plus a little something else (maybe a matching towel, gloves, bandanna? )!! Strolling chik!! (yes with K) HAHHA.

We all be waitting to hear from you!!

Let's rock the side walks, malls, church, craft classes, the pool!!...

I would be interested in this. The month-ish time period makes it do-able for me.

Some things that maybe could be asked on the sign-up questionnaire:

~ Is a homemade or ready-to-use tote preferred, or does it matter?
~ Is a zipper or snap or other type of closure desired?
~ Do you have an idea of how the tote will most often be used? (for example, if my swap partner would be regularly carrying library books, a sturdy canvas might be a better choice of material than a lightweight cotton . . . but if the tote will be used for workout gear or trips to the beach, something airier might be a better choice)
~ What size tote would be preferred -- small, medium, or large? (and then maybe throw out some rough size estimates for each)

I like the idea of using the "small, medium, large" time definitions usually used for craft swaps -- it would take into account the time involved in sewing a tote for those who prefer to make one from scratch, and would sort of balance that with how much time is then spent embroidering.

(Just totally throwing out ideas here!! Would love others to add to them or offer feedback about them.)

I think ranking embroidery/sewing skills would be a good idea.  I'm a newbie to embroidery and would hate my partner to be expecting more than I'm capable of accomplishing.

What colors/Themes are preferred? or to avoid?

smacckk-I think a simple purse would be fine if it was okay for the organizer.

Oh I am so lovin' all the suggestions.
I think the little purse idea is cute, and probably would be included in one the questions. Matching would be the key here...since a tote sometimes can be way easier to make than a simple purse  Wink.

If you have been lurking...place a post and get a little note about sign ups...it is so frustrating to miss a sign up...*i know that I just missed 2 fab swaps

I will surely sign up for this swap. My hands have felt strangely idle since I finished the apron embroidery. I took it everywhere and stitched whenever I had a few minutes. I will probably purchase a tote to embroider, though. I have a bunch of sewing patterns for Marley and some kitchen curtains in my sewing queue.

I'd probably be interested in this- it would fall nicely at the end of the embroidered pillowcases swap (which I'm loving!). Can never have too many embroidery projects!
