I absolutely love the beach (especially Hawaii) and probably can't afford to go anywhere this summer.... what a bummer!  But a bag/tote full of fun vacation-y summer stuff sure would help me dream happy, tropical thoughts!

I was thinking we could craft a bag, like a tote, beach or pool bag, and then fill it with both crafted and store-bought vacation staples or items that would remind us of our dream vacation.

Dreaming of hiking through the mountains?  You could fill a bag with a journal, a simple embroidered pillow case, some trail mix, magnets, a field guide, an embellished picture frame or album....

What about the beach?  A cozy for your sunglasses, journal, a little novel, some tropical tea towels, sun screen, some fabulous grilling recipes and marinade....

I was thinking about a 5 or 6-point swap (including the bag,)  with a little spoiling encouraged.  I could organize and start sign-ups in the beginning of May.

I think this could be so much fun!  Anyone interested???  Any suggestions/inspirations/ideas?

I'm loving the idea - but sadly with the timing - I don't think I'd do my partner justice...  Perhaps if you have round two in August? LOL Cheesy

YAY!  I'm so glad there's some interest in this swap!  I think it could be really, really fun!
I like the camping idea!  I didn't even think about that one.  Anyone else have some themes/ideas to get our crafty brains storming?

Your Idea sounds great!
I thought maybe you could match up people that live in different places than we can each 'send' our partner on a vacation where we live..
what do you think?

sounds great to me Smiley especially since i can't afford to vacation this year. but my bf springs for a trip to Dublin.
one question: would we send our partner on a vacation to the place where we live or to a place she wants to got to? i mean i do like city trips but for a proper vacation i'd prefer a beach place or hiking or so.

I figure it's our choice. I'd "send you to the beach" if you were my partner.

I was thinking that the vacation would be to a place we'd want to go.  I think there have been swaps in the past where you introduced your partner to your hometown, but I was thinking more along the lines of "dream vacation."  Trust me, noone wants to vacation in my little town -- one stop light, no hotel, no lake, nothing but cow pasture. Wink

I'll start sign-ups either tonight or tomorrow... I'll post a link in this thread when it's up!
