Wool Ease Thick n Quick Super Quick Cowel
«

On boxing day I went to Michael's to buy yarn on sale to make an afghan. I fell in love with this charcoal Thick n Quick, but didn't have a project for it. I bought it anyway. The afghan is driving me crazy and less than half done so I needed something to finish right now. So I grabbed the charcoal yarn, searched cowl, and came up with this:
http://erica-knits.blogspot.com/2008/01/chunky-knit-cowl-pattern.html
Perfect! So here are my results...
And a close up so you can see how chunky it is...
I'm a slow knitter so it took me almost 2 hours to finish. I used 1 ball exactly. I did this by using 10 mm needles and following the pattern until I ran out of yarn. So that I would know how much yarn I would need to cast off I measured how much yarn 1 round would take and added a third. So for me it was 90 inches of yarn per round, I added 30 inches so I started casting off when I had 120 inches of yarn left. It's not quite long enough to wear as a hood, but if I am wearing my jacket I can certainly pull it up over my head for added warmth inside my jacket hood. And I can pull it down over my shoulders for more warmth, but it gets a bit stretched out when I do this.
All in all I am happy with the result. Thanks for looking

Hey that looks very cosy and warm. Does the yarn not itch?
Having swollen glands and throatache now, this could be just the thing. It sure is something to keep the right area warm.
The colour is pretty nice too.
All in all, a winter's treat.

That looks cozy (especially as I look outside and see ice/snoww
). Nice work!

Guardie for life.
I am really interested in doing a personal swap, especially for greener things like reusable lady items, wool dryer balls, or other such things. I can knit, sew, draw, and put things together in pretty neat ways. Please PM me if you're interested.

I have always seen this yarn but did not know what to use it for...you did a lovely job and it is fast and easy as well to be able to make a few for friends and family!
I love the color and your hints on how you managed with one ball! I think it is a perfect size!

No I don't find this yarn itches at all. I can't wait till it goes on sale again and I can pick up a ton of it. I would like to try different patterns for myself and gifts for friends. I think this has started an addiction to thick yarn!
