I made an elephant using a pattern - Vogue 8349. The pattern calls for fleece, but I used a fulled sweater, and needle felted the eyes so that it would be safe for small children.

The sweater worked well, as the pattern uses unfinished edges on the ears, tail, and eyes.

How long did it take you to make?

~45 minutes to cut out the pattern pieces and fabric
~45 minutes to sew
~45 minutes to stuff, handsew, and add eyes
