Plain and simple...
this one won't fall apart, even if you shake it.

This was made by taking cross-sections of a 3d shape in Google Sketchup.

A hybrid sliceform and tunnel book...

An open version of the same egg, with scenery glued to the ribs on the inside in the same manner as a tunnel book.

Yes, they both fold flat!

Template and tutorial here:http://extremecards.blogspot.com/2009/04/plain-and-simple-sliceform-egg.html

whoa,  I think my brain would implode if I even attempted that.  I would be cursing like a mad pirate and probably take all of my paper out back and set it ablaze.

Great job!  I love it and applaud your patience!

Maybe I'm crazy, but I really like the look of the egg when laid flat.  Cheesy

Eeee!  Thank you so much for this post and the link with the template/instructions!

I got a Christmas "card" that was very similar to this two years ago.  I loved the concept so much and it's the only one I've kept from year to year!  (It was more like the second pic you posted here.)

I cannot wait now to get back to work on Monday!  (I work for a commercial printer - we have tons and tons of scrap paper.  I'm gonna have a field day!!)  I don't think I'll find anything quite as cool as the blue stocks you used, but I'm sure I'll find plenty to practice on!   Wink

Thank you!  Thank you!  Thank you!

Cheesy It's plain (cheap) blue paper that I ran through my Cuttlebug to give it that embossed texture!

It's funny how the word "Cool" keeps surfacing in people's responses, because as my eyes feasted on your photos, my lips were murmuring, "Coooooooool!", too!
