I made this bag for my kid.
I tend to embroider in the evening while watching television (or movies), as it keeps me from gnawing my fingernails(and fingertips) to bits.

This side is from the 'I Luv Veggies' pattern sheet.
And...

This side is from the 'Forest Friends' pattern sheet.

There's a black smudge on the veggies side. I let a pen get a little too close to the iron when I was putting the pattern on the bag, and it rolled onto the bag while I wasn't looking. Thankfully my kid is 7 and doesn't care about the smudge.

I bought the canvas bag from Michaels. It's the 'medium' size and it's good for library books (although I think the extra large size is the best for toting library books around as it's much roomier).
Those bags are terrible to work with if you don;t wash and dry them first. Which stinks if you don't own your own washer and dryer, as I generally want to work on them right away when I get them.

Good job! I like the carrot, he looks like he's letting off some steam.  Yeah, those bags are a pain Undecided  After I wash and dry 'em I usually swing them around and beat the heck out of em to try to soften them up.  Yes, I probably look crazy but I'm ok with that.  Keep up the good work!

Thanks Smiley
I wish I could find more bags to stitch on. I think they are a really fun way to make gifts for people. But I am left with my only option being these bags, I guess.
I've looked online and not found much that would really work for my purposes.
I suppose I could sew up my own bags. I do have a sewing machine. The problem is that I haven't sewn anything with a machine since Jr High home ec.

I don't normally say things like this, but I'm partial to the owl.  I bet your kid is envied at the library.

This is way cute! I feel your pain on the Michael's totes. I just saw that Sublime Stitching added a tote to their textiles, and I'm excited to try it out soon.

Welcome! Great stitching-if I was a kid, I would want a bag like this. I feel your pain about the totebag.

Definitely feel your pain with the canvas.  My fingertips on my right hand are so callused from stitching on canvas you'd think I was some crazy badass guitar player!  The sublime stitching totes are softer than the ones found at Hobby Lobby and Michaels but alas, they do tend to wear out a litter faster.  What to do, what to do?
