Vintage ping pong light and tutorial
«

This is from one of my vintage craft books...The Superbook of Things to do (1974) I think it might look nice without painting the balls....leaving them white might look kind of cool.

That is such a good idea!
If I give it a go, I'd probably leave them unpainted (so they're not opaque) and form some sort of simple shape as well. Thanks for posting this

his looks fun. Just a thought, most ping pong balls have something printed on them that would be covered over with the paint. Also I had a really hard time finding white ping pong balls. Also most brand I found were orange. Just a lil' fyi. Good luck with the lamp!

With the balls painted bright colours it could work really well in a kids bedroom, but if they were unpainted or painted lighter shades it could look great in the rest of the house. Thanks for that, I amy well give it a go as it doesn't look
too
difficult (fingers crossed).

this would be super cool to do with the icicle version of christmas lights.. use the LED lights, because they don't heat up like regular ones.... anyway use the classic coloured lights, with the white wire if you can find it, and white ping pong balls... that way the balls will be different colours when you turn it on!
i like the circle idea as well.. put them in a circle! that way you will have that nice layered look!

If you painted the balls with the the glass glaze I wonder if they would kind of glow iwth the light shining through them?
You could do them in pastels for a baby mobile or use a bit heavier test fishing line, string white and blue ones up the line and put rubber duckies on them. The balls would be bubbles!
Sorry for the highjack! lol

Ooh...Cealy that's a REALLY nice idea....pastels would look softer and perfect for a baby..I have a one year old...duckies or fishies would look so cute! I might have to go out now and scour the shops for ping-pong balls and duckies!

I forgot to mention earlier that I did a different version of this in my room ages ago..
I used the christmas light like i mentioned, but i actually made origami ballons! they look super cute when you turn it on. I used scrapbooking paper, because it's kinda thick. I'll take a picture for you so you can kinda get an idea of what I am talking about!
