This is Halloween themed, but I came up with the idea when thinking of something to wear to Dragon*Con and it's not a costume... but if you think I should repost in Occasions instead let me know.

I made this dress out of some really cute monster fabric that I bought online for $2/yd (fabrics.com). The skirt is black stretch poplin ($4/yd?). The striped fabric is a regular quilters style cotton ($6/yd) and there is some quilting added in the bow to give it volume.

The design/pattern is my own and involved lots of changes and alterations to get it right. I added pockets made out of remnant monster fabric to keep party accessories in (phone, etc) without needing a purse.

There is an elastic band in the top to keep it up, and the striped band around the middle was a belt that I added to make it look less poofy and awful.

I like it a lot, next time I would adjust the waist so that I didn't need to add the belt. It was very comfortable to wear, but because of the length/poofyness of the skirt I wore some shorts underneath to protect the innocent. Cheesy

C&C welcome!
