For Christmas I made my fiancé this jumper of my own design (hence the inadequacies) out of chunky wool. He is a palaeontologist and requested the dinosaur skull motif. I looked for ages to find a nice basic men's jumper pattern, but I couldn't find any - men's jumper patterns seem stuck in the 1980s.

He got the Darwin beard for Valentines day as a joke, and loves it. It was also knitted without a pattern.

Hope you like them. Comments and criticisms appreciated.

Both of those things on their own = amazing.

But both at the same time? Incomprehensibly awesome.

Good job.

Haha! I love them both! It makes my day when I see young smart people enjoying their semi-dorkiness (that's not an insult, though it may have come out like one). Great job, especially since you were winging it on the pattern! Grin

How wonderful!  I love them both.  I might have to make a beard for my hubby and 4 year old son, they would love it!

That is so fantastic - a geologist and huge Darwin fan friend of mine would be so jealous.

Dinosaurs are one of my favorite things ever (though I'm studying to be an archaeologist, not a paleontologist) and I love knitting, so of course I LOVE this sweater!

That sweater is awesome!  I love love love how the dinosaur skull! You did a great job!

Also, I know what you mean about men's sweater patterns!  I did the same for my man (made up my own pattern to knit him a sweater)
