I gave up buying new clothes and accessories for lent this year. no shirts, pants, jewelry, shoes, purses headbands, scarves. You get the picture. It was actually way easier than I thought. mostly because I have no money, but also because I've been sewing up a storm. I'm thinking about extending the clothing part for the rest of the year... i don't know if i'd be able to pull it off though... anyway here is my latest creation--

It's black and white cotton jersey knit with ten buttons. I had some friends over for cocktails on saturday and I finished sewing this literally 20 minutes before they showed up. I had to clean everything up and do my hair and make-up, get dressed and wash dishes in 20 minutes! Haha oh well, totally worth it. Thanks for looking!

It is so cute! Very sophisticated. I made the same pledge, except because I'm out of cash and not because it's lent.

it's so cute Smiley and also, I've resolved not to buy any tops or dresses/skirts this year (pants are still on the list though since i don't really know how to make them yet) and I haven't bought an accessory in about 2 years! This is probably also due to the fact that I'm low on cash, but also 'cause I don't want to own the same things that everyone else does.

Very classy. I like where the sleeves are set in. I think thats a pretty weird thing to say about the shirt, but it makes your shoulders look really really good.

That's adorable! I love how simple it is without being boring Smiley

i love this top! I like that you could dress it up or down. Did you use a pattern?

Thanks! I didn't use a pattern, I just made it up. Although, if you want to make one yourself you could probably use a shirt that fits you as a pattern or guideline.
