this is a pretty simple idea... i saw it somewhere in craftster where a person decorated a whole purse with buttons, according to the colors of the original fabric.  well, this is a very very mini version.  i didn't even have time to do the "back" (which used to be the front, because it has some lines of sequins on it... so i said "well, it's decorated... sort of" and left it).  sorry i forgot to take a picture of the "before" or the un-buttonized side so just imagine a burlap-ish material printed in stripes of different earth-tones.

ETA: i did actually find this around my house.  i bought it ages ago at the thrift-shop, expecting to use it as an actual wallet.  like a year later, the smell of other people's perfume has come out of it (although i did wash it just in case) and i could find it and buttonize it.

ETA2: there are so many great entries in the contest, i almost didn't post this... but then... really... it's not that often that i sew buttons all over something.  so i thought, i should at least post it.  and especially since i did it for another reason for Yelutci in the recent christian swap (now she has received i can mention it!), almost not even remembering that this challenge was still current, and only just remembered, checked about the rules, and posted.
i wouldn't vote for it (as always, i am torn between about 5 amazingly buttonful projects all of which are levels and levels above)... but it was a fun item to make anyway.

yeah ... i was like that until last year at the "world's biggest yardsale" organized by the newspaper in my town, i got an instant stash where some lady was selling like these industrial size bags of mixed buttons.

PS: thank you both for the comments (^_^)

Smiley super congrats! It really is a super cute piece, the buttons rock and you did a really beautiful job placing the buttons and stuff!
