Hi there,
This is the first time I have posted a project, so apologies in advance if I get it wrong...
I have a purple/lavender/jade/aqua spectrum printed duvet cover that I really adore.  It's a lot girlier than I am used to, but the colour combo makes my eyes pop.  Anyway, I have been meaning to make a co-ordinating lampshade for some time and had assumed that I would bead it, but when this challenge came up, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity!  I sourced my beads from op shops and made a few special ones from polymer clay as well, which are "Dr Suessed-up" versions of motifs on the duvet.
I then used a netting technique to apply the beads as an overlay to the bare navy lampshade.  Initially I was going to remove the lampshade, but it provided a cool contrast.  I used general beaded netting techniques, but just applied them to buttons.  There is a netted lampshade in a back issue of Bead and Button magazine, but it uses floral plastic beads and does not retain the original shade.
I haven't quite finished - there's going to be a trim around the bottom of the shade with larger beads, but I ran out of time as I have been ill over the last month.  Anyway, here they are, thanks for looking!

That's fantastic! I absolutely love it! I love the way the "plain" buttons coordinate with your homemade ones, and your homemade ones are marvelous! It would be fantastic all on it's own, but the way it matches the duvet just makes it that much cooler.

Thanks very much! Yay!  I can't wait to get it finished though - I have some more vintage buttons, which are larger (about the size of those big old coat buttons) that will be going around the bottom to form a rim, and will probably carry on the netting to the edge as well.  I might post the finished result, will have to see.  Smiley
