Rainbow Booties & Bonnet For Baby
UPDATE: Pics of the bonnet in solid white with flowers on page 2.
This is my first time entering a challenge!! W00t! Of course I have no delusions of winning but I've really been wanting to make some patterns of my own and this seemed like a good source of inspiration.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . .
I had intended on making a full set, perhaps with mittens or a little vest, but I ran out of my rainbow thread and more just isn't in the budget right now. I'm fairly happy with them as is though and maybe in the future I'll try to have more thread on hand. *shrug*
. . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Both the little bonnet and booties are my own design. They should both fit around 0-3 month old babies however the booties run a teencie bit small however they are stretchy and larger than some bootie patterns I've made from other people's patterns. The booties were my very first pattern to make EVER,
very exciting. Of course the bonnet was my second ever pattern to make; however, in all fairness, I haven't typed up the bonnet pattern from my notes yet but will do. (I may be asking for help in testing both patterns in the near future.)
I used a shell stitch and v-stitch design and made sure to use a fun variegated thread to show off the pattern. (I could have, alternatively used alternating colors for the same reason but who doesn't love rainbows I ask you?) I did a much taller eyelet round for both the hat and booties than is recommended in most patterns I have. Just (dc, ch1) isn't quite high enough for 1/4 ribbon.. and I like the tr v-stitch look to.. just to be different. The hat is made with the same shell and v-stitch design through out. The booties I did with a slightly narrowed heel for a better fit and I opted NOT to use my usual flowers, etc being the colorful thread seemed enough. Oh and, of course, this is size 10 thread throughout...

Okay on with the pictures and.. sorry for the rambling.. (I'm just really excited)..
Can't wait to see the other entries!!!
