In the recent Dollhouse episode "Echoes" Eliza Dushku's character Echo is wearing a pair of white thigh-high stockings that look to be crocheted. I tried searching for something similar, but the closest match I found is a pointelle pattern. There are some close-ups of her stockings here:

I'm not a very experienced crocheter and I've never made a pattern before. Does anybody recognize the two main stitches used, the hexagons?

I have no idea but I remember thinking.. "those stockings are AWESOME." lol I honestly hadn't noticed that they were crocheted but looking at the closeup.. ya know I think you're right. It almost looks like hexagon motifs with chains linking them.  Hmm.. no clue exactly.  Huh
I would LOVE to see someone here make those.. that would freaking ROCK!  Grin

The hex's look like spiderweb stitch.  It's the third stitch from the top of this site.

Ive only ever seen knitting patterns for stockings eg

"Crochet me" http://www.interweavestore.com/store/p/1656-Crochet-Me-Designs-to-Fuel-the-Crochet-Revolution.aspx has a set of stockings and I wonder if you could modify the pattern easily?

Apparently the stockings are actually socks from Free People Clothing Boutique. They're currently on sale for $29.95, marked down from $48. But the white is out of stock.
