Well the camera is dying again so i yanked the sd card this morning to start posting all the projects Mr. Kitty and I have been working on. This is a total Mr. Kitty RECON.

So he took 2 two liter bottles, one usb cable, one led flashlight and did his fancy electrical work  coming up with this:

He found the tut online but cannot remember where...MEN!!! So if you know the author let me know so we can give them credit where it is due.

He bought Viola seeds to go inside. Edible flowers, yay....the bad? They have not sprouted. So I am going to plant a cucumber seed. The seeds I have germinate in a FLASH....so if anything will grow this will. Mr. Kitty thinks the LED is missing something in the blue spectrum and thus no life. Well I will report back if the cucumber sprouts.

Either way it is pretty durn cool that this is run by his computer plugged into a USB port.

Enjoy!

So the USB and the LED act as a grow light?  I'm trying to get a mental picture of this.   And where does the second coke bottle come in?

It's a great idea, especially since the computer is always plugged in.

When I have germinated seeds indoors, I planted them, watered them, and then put them in the dark until they sprouted. Then I put them in the light. So, if you're not doing that, maybe that's the problem?

This is an awesome idea. Can't wait to see the progress of it.

The led is wired into the usb cable which is plugged into the computer. The bottom of the second bottle is sitting on the top of the bottom of the second bottle. The bottom of the top bottle is where the led is.

Got it.  Kind of like a mini terrarium.

It'll be interesting to see how it works out.

LED's do not provide heat you are right. I might need to grow something less needy than Viola's but Mr. Kitty thought they were pretty. I told him I am going to drop a cucumber in there to see. I might try a house plant instead. Not sure, work on it this weekend.
