One of the girls on my bowling league is pregnant, and I thought I'd stitch her a little something for her pending arrival.  Naturally, the Bowling Betties patterns sprung immediately to mind:

This one was all done in stem stitch, with a little satin stitch for variety.  Of course, we bowl five-pin, so our balls are smaller (tee-hee!) and don't have the finger holes, but the overall effect is there, I think.  The configuration of the pins amused me, too, because if you manage to hit the head pin and the ones on either side of it, you've just scored Aces, which is roughly the equivalent of a seven-ten split in ten-pin (I think), and terribly difficult to spare.

I didn't know whether she was having a boy or a girl (and she doesn't either - but we'll be finding out by the end of the month!), so when I decided on the kitten motif, I made it as gender-neutral as possible.  The fur is stem stitch, but the bow and features, and the "Baby", are all done in backstitch.  I got lazy, haha.

I gave them to her this Wednesday, and she absolutely loved them, as did her teammates.  They couldn't believe I had done it all by hand!  I don't think you can find bowling-themed baby goods in many places, so she's got a one-of-a-kind item!

Thanks for looking!

Wow! I really like your onesies. I love how you made a bowling shirt. How fun. I also really like the rainbow lettering you used. Most people wouldn't think to use anything but pink and blue. I know I wouldn't have thought of that. I usually use yellow and green to be diffrent. Now I have a new color choice. Grin
