I have just finished my first pine needle basket.  It took ten hours to complete, but only because I'm new at it, and I wanted it to be perfect.  It went to a swap partner in the tree swap.

Here is the basket without any finish on it.  It was still wonky.

Then I put a polyurethane finish on it to make it rigid.

I think my partner was happy with it.   I have started another one and will post when it's done.

It is truly amazing.  Rarely is it possible to see such perfect lines in a piece constructed of purely natural materials.  LOVE IT!

Cheesy I think she loves it and you should add how good it smells. I'm actually a little surprised that the finish doesn't seem to cover up the sweet pine goodness.

I'm glad you like your basket, Cyndy.  It was hard to send it, since it was my first.

Thank you for all your lovely comments, everyone.

The reason that you can smell the pine through the finish is because I use a water base finish, so it has no residual odor of its own.  And there's only one very light coat, just enough to make it rigid.

I love that! About how big is it? I want one!!!!

I expect it won't take so long to make when you have made a few so when you have a chance to practice you could send me a rejected one  Roll Eyes because that is way cool!
