That is fantastic, and I am amazed at how much work and patience must have gone into it! I don't think that it looks "empty" at all, I think it's perfect. If you wanted to add something in the middle but didn't have enough time/patience/sanity/buttons, what about something like a medallion design? I think that would look awesome.
