Happy Friday folks!! Well.. it's just after midnight, so it's technically Friday here! LOL!
I have a super early flight to catch tomorrow to Chicago, so I won't have time to post then. and I've spun some yarns I'm really excited about.. so I figured I'd share before I went to bed.. since it is Friday.. lol!!

The first is my most favorite!! I'm taking it with me to start knitting with. It was for the shop.. but I just can't let it go!! LOL!!
I spun some amazing yarnzombie (lufah) balls that were a blue/lavender and green. there were super awesome scotch mule locks and tons of sparkle! Jacki called them Tide Pool.  I really wanted the yarn to look like a tide pool, so I corespun the roving, and added tail spun locks, bits of fleece and different sparkle to mimic the critters you find in tide pools.
128 yards

Here is a fun "scrap" yarn on the bobbin.. this is a HUGE pile of random fiber that I put on the floor and just pull from..

Here's the finished yarn.. 6 oz, 80 yards, SUPER bulky

Here's another yummy corespun I finished yesterday..

Loop feb batt corespun.. with a few spots wrapped in pink lurex yarn, with some gold "key" charms

I can't wait to see what everyone else has spun when I get into Chicago tomorrow, and back to a computer!!  I hope everyone has a great day!!

I have missed looking at the last two fiber fridays.  *sigh*

Jazzturtle, you always super amaze me.  My favorite is the blue/purple/red/orange corespun in the middle.

Fun yarns, jazzturtle.  I love the corespun yarns.

I actually finished this yarn last week, but for some reason didn't get a pic until now.  I call this one "Blossoming".

so I've actually been at the spinning wheel this week, after a hiatus.

This first one I actually spun at the beginning of March, at a drop in class I went to while visiting my family 8 hrs away.  I wasn't going to share it, because I am terribly disappointed in it.  It was my first experience with the long draw method...  and I think I suck at it LOL  Its thick thin overspun underspun.  and terribly weak.. definitly not what I've become accustom to with my "inch worm" method I taught myself LOL  But I guess it takes the practice right?  Anyway, on with the pic:   (oh its BFL, yardage unknown)

Here are some merino tops I dyed with wiltons and koolaid.  I just stuck the dry fiber in the pot and simmered until the dye was gone.  I like how they turned out.
Hippy (hopefully spun up next week)

Orange smoothie:

this one is BFL, no name:

THis is what the Orange smoothie turned into.  It will go from dark to light up the garment when used.  Thick thin(darn long draw method) 166 yards:

And this I did on my drop spindle and apparently didnt take a pic of the whole ball, but I had a tiny bit left and the finished little chicks.   ANyway I called the yarn Big Bird.  Makes me chuckle.... yarn big bird.. turned into little chickies..... teehee...  These are going to be easter gifts to my family, each little chicky represents a family member!  I have a few more to go LOL

Here is where you can find the patern for the chickies:

phew.  And I think thats it for today.

Inie_rah, thats really pretty.

natashafatale, i love the shades of blue in your yarn...and the sequins.  Of course, you can throw anything sparkly into yarn and i am pretty much guaranteed to love it.

veludo, you are doing great at spinning.  I like the red/black/white combo.  For some reason, I always have a difficult time getting good shades of red fiber.

I haven't posted on fiberfriday in forever!  Here's what I did the other day-

Gwyneth
3 oz. Merino Wool - 173 yds.
Hand dyed, handspun by me
Worsted-Sport

But I've also been spinning a ton of other stuff too.  It just finally got on etsy today.

Here is some of my new stuff all together:

It's like a rainbow!

I'd post more pictures, but I've got to run to work.  I almost forgot that it was fiber friday!

Oh how I love Fiber Friday. I actually developed a weird skin condition on my hands that led to them getting EXTREMELY irritated anytime I spun. It was traumatizing to say the least. I couldn't spin for six months! But it's under control now so I'm getting back to practice!

This is some anonymous wool with mohair locks spun in. It's sort of overspun in some places but I love it. I call it The Glorious Return of Spinning.

And this is Malibu Nights, Tangerine Dreams, my yarn dedication to the hidden track on Tenacious D's album. The actual yarn didn't look anything like this yarn. This is just a tribute. (Don't worry if that makes no sense.) : )

I just finished plying another 2ply but I think I'm too lazy to get it off the bobbin tonight.
I really must try some more art yarny stuff, you guys post such amazing stuff!

Seems perfectly clear to me...lol Wink

*drool* ...and that about sums up my thoughts on all of this week's offerings! It's getting a bit ridiculous how great all these yarns, batts and rovings are...don't ya think? lol I love it!

I actually have something finished this week! I never seem to have as much time as I would like to spin...ah well, life with a 6 yo boy I guess, lol.
This was spun from Sheep Shed Studio mill ends and plied with neon green thread...Kool-Aid dyed after spinning. The colors are a bit too neon for me though. The orange and the lime green are really bright! The orange reminds me of Cheetos, lol. Approx. 87 yards. (On my monitor the second pic is a little dark but truer to actual color)

Moldy Cheetos  OR  Cheetos and Olives and Limes, Oh My!

Wow, Everything looks so good and squishable!  Grin I totally love the Medusa Supercoils, very nice.

I have a couple this week. Trying to spin a little everyday this month so here are two small yarns from the 1st and 2nd.

This one is a corespun yarn with a technicolor batt I made. Its about 34 yards but this is the best picture I have so far.

This yarn was already made but I plied it  with a dark green embroidery thread to get approx 49 yards then the thread ran out.  Shocked

I used the leftovers and made a small two ply - extra bulky!

That's it for me. I hope to have a larger selection to share next week!

Here are my contributions for the week.

I have one skein of yarn. It's that same undyed single from last week plied with this vintage rayon embroidery thread. I'm calling it "Mimi's House" because it reminds me of the color scheme of my grandmother's house. picture of the living room

A close up to show off sparkle. Smiley

The rest of these pictures are of Sheep Shed Studio mill end rovings I dyed last night for the first time.

I'm back at Fiber Friday once again with a single skein offering.  This one took me hours and hours to spin up such thin singles, and I've still got about 3 oz. of the fiber in case I want to make more.

Navajo-plied superwash mill ends, 306 yards and approx. 5 oz.  My first time buying someone else's hand-dyed fiber.  It bled a little bit when I blocked it, and I poured in some vinegar in an attempt to get the color to stick, hence the pinkish ties.

Do you guys think this yarn is the right thickness to knit a pair of socks?

Amazing yarns again, everyone!

No offerings from me, haven't had much time to spin and when I do I'm terribly slow! I bought some gorgeous silk/merino top from shunklies on Etsy (wouldn't normally go for such luxury but it was such a good price!) and am trying to spin it into some sock yarn. As I only have a drop spindle this will take me forEVER but Spring Break starts next Friday for me so hopefully I'll have something to share in oh, two weeks? haha

If any of you got missed on the PM I sent out, we're discussing another handspun swap in the new swap theme discussion board. There's a link in my signature. We decided that sign ups should start in the middle of May with send outs in June. Just an FYI for anyone who'd be interested. Smiley

Darlingbud, your yarns are delicious. I love multi fiber yarns, I tried to make a few but I only have hand carders and it got exhausting. Saving up for a drum carder! I especially love Sprout.

Blam blam, your time consuming singles paid off! It's awesome. I've actually made socks out of all kinds of different weights, it just depends how thick you mind the socks being. You could always knit up a swatch and see how you like it.

Beautiful yarns again this week!  I haven't had internet access since Friday morning, so here's mine, a little late.  I actually spun this a couple weeks ago but it's been too dark to get a decent picture.  This is some wool/mohair/llama mix that I dyed into one hunk of purple and orange roving.  I split the colors apart and spun two skeins.  The orange has purple slubs and a ton of sparkle, you just can't see it in the picture, and is plyed with pink thread.  The purple has some orange spots spun in and is candy striped with the same pink thread.  They're tiny skeins, like twenty yards or so, and really bulky.

...yeah, that's right, none. But I'm sure she'll take some :-)
