Shoe me the buttons!!!

This is my first contest!  Woo!  This was a fun challenge for me that I really enjoyed.


So I have made these kind of shoes years ago and its been ages since I made one.  I don't want to give away too much because I think I might make a tutorial for this and post it on craftster, but I will tell you the basics of how its made:

I found a shoe that had a cute shape and wrapped it in clear packing tape.  Then I layered buttons and sealed it with more clear tape.  The pictures here don't do it justice....in person there is little to no glare and it looks like a glass slipper with buttons fused in it!!  I love how delicate it looks and it will sit proudly on a shelf in my house as a testiment to how much I love shoes!

Sadly they are not wearable - because if I could pull that one off I would be looking at serious retirement very soon!  Well, not total retirement - more like making fabulous fun and really crazy shoes all day that felt like being retired because that's really playing for a living.  Thanks for the comment.

At first glance, I thought it was a resin shoe with buttons in it! Fabulous!

I think it's a testament to how well-made this is that, I am not really "into" shoes, and I saw this and was like, "So cool! I need to make one!" I'm gonna have to agree with everyone else. It looks like resin with suspended buttons - and the only way it could get cooler is if you could actually wear it. I'd love to see these in a variety of colors, too - or to see what else you could make them with! I'm thinking bottlecaps...

i think if it WERE resin, it might be slightly wearable.  except i think resin is fairly breakable, but maybe a different kind of resin...

Thank you so much for the comments.  I am hoping to do a tutorial soon because these are fairly easy and lots of fun!  I actually did a few that went on a national tour a few  years ago and were well recieved.  These shoes are only limited by your imagination which makes them so much fun and can make them extremely unique and personal.  I promise I will share very soon!  Again Thank you so much for your comments!

so wait, is the shoe still in there, or is it just tape now? i love the idea of it just being so delicate and made of tape, very glass slipper!
