You know what would have been funny in a boggling sort of way?  If you'd put the avatars back at midnight, but kept the shag/macramenet.net look till noon the next day.  It would have been just enough to get the people who weren't sure to think, "Oh no! They really meant it!"

Despite seeing it on April 1st and reading through this entire thread I totally panicked when I got up the morning of April 2nd and the site was still like it cos I'm in the UK so our time is obv ahead of Craftster US time!  I was so relieved when I got home and it had gone back to normal Grin  Not that I didn't enjoy the shagpile and the joke mind Wink

I would just like to admit right now that thanks to a hint from Leah, I was able to add the shag background to my website.  Yep.  My personal website has shag carpet.  Those of you who felt the shag carpet was eye-bleedingly terrible should probably avoid visiting my website.  For those kindred souls out there who kinda dug the shag carpet, behold:

http://www.lothruin.com/index.html

I dug it lol, the first apartment I ever rented (in 1996) was a duplex and they had been empty since they were built in 1969.  It had fabulous avacado green thick plush shag carpet (like 2 inches deep!) and uber thick real pine wood panelling (there were 1" wide grooves that were 1/2" wide deep between each panel)  The owners that bought the place offered to renovate it before I moved in and bring it up to date, but I begged and pleaded that they leave it the way it was for me lol.  I took the old sofa's I had and reupholstered them in animal print furs and made a ton of animal print throw & floor pillows,  I was 17 and had my own awesome "Jungle Room"  I even had a fabulous 1950's pink fridge there.  Being married and having kids, my husband toned down my adventurous style for decor but I still think about that apartment and how warm and fuzzy it made me feel. (he met me while I was still living there and yet still married me lol)  Yesterday's background was a warm reminder of that place I loved so much.
Growing up we had the avacodo green shag. I miss that stuff. Even tried to convince hubby that the house we bought had to have shag carpet. That didn't happen. lol
We also had an avacodo green refrigerator. the thing is still running and my parents got it with the house when I was 2. I'm 23 now. Smiley
