It was weird at 1st, but I was also watching a funny show (mighty boosh live) and cracking up, which made it hard to focus. In the end my nice, smooth single became a measly 63 yds of kind of ugly yarn, but I will keep working at it!

Ironically I find it easier to navajo ply on a spindle Smiley  I think it's just a matter of what makes more sense for you Smiley

Nice choice. ;]

I've navajo plied twice, both on a spindle obviously which as far as I can tell seems like it would be much more tricky than on a wheel (my chains were MUCH smaller than you'd do on a wheel)...my results have been okay, my only problem is sometimes you can see where the chain is made (it sticks out a little bit? not smoothly twisted with everything else....eh, if you've seen it you know what I'm talking about). Other than that I think they turned out really good considering I'm pretty new at this.

Anyway, I say just go for it. If you don't try it you'll never know!

LxM.  sweet!

Bella - When I 2-ply, I never come out even.  What I started doing was to take the left over single and chain (Navajo) ply it.

When I started chain plying, I used small loops, now I use BIG uns'  LxM, I know what you mean about the 'bump'.  Keep your forward hand above (closer to the wheel or spindle) and build up a tiny bit more twist, As you allow the twist to go over the bump, you smooth it with your forward hand.

I just started adding beads while doing a chain ply.  Karen taught me how at the fiber fest I went to last month.

Love it Oddacity!!  Bit of advice for the Traveller ... keep that allen wrench that came with it close by (mine is in my little bag hanging on my wheel that holds the wrench, my oil and spare drive band)

Travellers will work themselves loose, so tighten them up every few months.

Oh I am having oodles of fun. Cheesy Filled two bobbins already and can already see a tremendous difference between the first and second! Left my niddy-noddy at Dad's work, though...so once I get that back I'll skein them up and hand paint them. Woo!

I've still got so much to learn...I bought an awesome book though so I think I'll spend some time reading it this weekend since I am DONE WITH SCHOOL!!! Sort of. No actual work left to do anyway. Cheesy

Oddacity, love that wheel!

Guys, I am so excited!! I finally spun a mostly-consistent yarn! Hooray! My spindle finally loves me.  Cheesy  And it was my first time blending- and I'm so addicted. Even more determined to get a wheel now that I have good results to show off.  Smiley
