This thread is a discussion for a fiber/handspun yarn related swap. We're definitely doing it on the dates listed below. Please join our discussion and throw in any ideas you may have! The more the merrier!

Newbie swappers, spinners and fiber-holics welcome! I'm one myself! We have lots of new spinners interested in this swap, so please, don't be afraid to join. Our more experienced hand spinners have already voiced their approval of newbies. Smiley

I realize that there was a round of this that isn't closed yet (is that right Huh) and that it wasn't long ago, but I'm now into spinning and can't wait until the next round. So much that I'm throwing it out there that I will organize it if anyone has any interest!! Surely I'm not the only one itching to swap fibers and handspun.  Grin

Dates for this swap -

Signups: May 15th/May 29th
Partners: May 30th
Sendouts: July 11th

Requirements for this swap -
large: yarn created from spinning 3 or more oz. of fiber OR 3 or more oz. of fiber
medium: 1 crafted items (spinning/fiber related)
small: 1 oz or more of your favorite fiber (can match the yarn/main fiber or not)

Partners should agree on the amount of ounces to spin over the minimum if they choose to do so, as everyone does not spin/craft the same. IMO - We'll keep discussing this.

Any sort of spinning/fiber related item would be perfect for the medium crafted item. I was thinking of other things, like:
a drop spindle, someone had made an orifice hook last round, trinkets for plying, put together by hand plying & spinning goody bags, hand dyed/carded fiber (fiber must be manipulated/dyed by you to count as a crafted item), clever containers for fiber or yarn. Another thought I had was fancy/funky lap blankets specifically for fiber related crafts, so that our laps stay clean. Maybe your handcrafted items could be collections of natural plants dye stuffs? If any of those things I listed sound crazy, chime in, they were just thoughts. If you have any suggestions we'll add them!

Also, hopefully everyone will want to check in weekly for discussion and changes. I hope that anyone who wants to join this will keep in great communication. I think that's all we'll need for a happy swap. Smiley

New info: We're going to go ahead and merge swaps with the fiber people who don't necessarily spin but want to swap fiber. I'll PM freestyle and ask her opinion on writing up the questionnaire to include everyone. I've changed the title of this thread to attract all the fiber-holics. Smiley We're still working out the details of ounces for fiber only swappers. Fiber only swappers, please chime in with your opinions!

This is not a felting swap. I'm pretty sure there is talk of a felting swap on this board though.

Since everyone seems to be full up on school and swapping until summer time, we should do sign ups mid-May and send outs at the end of June or something. I'm going to PM a couple of the ladies who I've been talking to about spinning and see if they're interested. Smiley

I am extremely tempted!  If timing works I'll be in on this one.  I'm a newbie spinner and really enthusiastic.

RhymeswOrange - I hear y'a. I've become obsessed. Today I drove to the feed stores and farm supply stores looking for supplies. I've made 2 CD drop spindles today and spent my afternoon sanding dowel rods.  Roll Eyes When would the best time be for you? I'll put you on the PM list so we can keep up with everyone who is interested.

Yay Nesse! I totally have you on my list.

I'm keeping a running list. I've never organized a swap before but I'm totally ready to dive in. I definitely want to wait until after Easter (even though I can do it whenever) and for those of you in school, I'm sure it would help if we did sign ups mid-May and then sent out in June. Does that sound good to everyone who's interested so far?
