I can't be the only one....any one else out there doing a budget?  I am changing the title to maybe generate some interest...heres hoping

Is there anyone else out there who is doing a Dave Ramsey thing or otherwise budgeting and saving and paying down debt?

We are and to tell you the truth it really sucks!  I hate being poor!  But one day I will be

DEBT FREE!!!!!!!!!
can you tell I am excited!
Any way I was thinking of things that would keep me on track...fancy envelopes, gazelles, piggy banks, all things from the thrift store or stash.  Gentle reminders to keep on budget but nice things that I otherwise wouldn't get because I have a limited budget to play with.  I have gotten really creative!

Any other takers?
I would be willing to organize in mid April-ish if there is an interest.
peace
Theresa

well Miss Kasandra...
Dave Ramsey is a guy who has a radio show and a show on Fox Business Channel.  I got hooked on him last Oct and my family has been working on becoming debt free...which is what he "preaches."  He uses a an envelope system and CASH to pay for everything...NO CREDIT CARDS!  It has been a complete life change for us!  I wish that I had found him long before we did.  I get his finance stuff, it makes sense to me, but I am NOT a follower of his politics.  So go and check him out.  I think that I would have benefitted from some kinda plan after I graduated college, really anything!

Let me tell you it feels awesome!!! to be the only one who owns my education!  We can't wait to kick that B!t@h, Salley Mae, out the house!

****I was thinking that this could encoupass any financial planning person...Dave, Suze Orman, Jim Cramer, or Gramma's plan (not anyone specific or anything but living real and paying with cash!), old school Piggy Bank kinda stuff!

Eek - I would so be down for this!!!  Although I can't stand Suze Orman or Jim Cramer (John Stewart, anyone?).  I would totally do a Ramsey themed swap.  It could include crafts to help you keep track of your finances, things to motivate you to pay off debt ("I see Debt people" or "the borrower is slave to the lender" crafts), the baby steps embroidered on a kitchen towel, things that inspire hope (Townhall for Hope related), choosing not to participate in the recession, being self accountable...

I've been listening to Ramsey for a few years now & he really helped DH & I get on the same page financially when we got married.

Miss Kasandra - Ramsey has a free weekday one hour podcast:

He's also on the radio & Fox Business every weekday.  He gives common sense financial advice.

I would do this! There seems to be lots of potential for budget-themed craft items...even things like cute coin purses or something related to your big savings goal (i.e. vacation related items if you plan to take a trip when you are out of debt!). Sounds like a great idea!
