I did it! I made this, and it was the first bag I've ever made (really) and I LOVE it and I keep getting compliments on it when I go out (yay!)

Thank you again so much for this tutorial. I only changed it the slightest bit and made it as wide as the strap - in other words, I lengthened the strap and sewed it all around the bag to make sides and a bottom. Does that make sense?

Without further ado:

This is a fantastic tutorial!  Here is my first attempt!  Not perfect, but not too bad.  I added an applique called "Anywhere Bear" from Shiny Happy World (http://shinyhappyworld.bigcartel.com/product/anywhere-bear-applique-pattern-pdf) as well as some Mickey balloons for my Disney loving Mama.  The balloon detail, strings, and belly on the bear's tummy are all hand stitched.  Just a basic straight stitch.  And thanks again for such a great tutorial.  I know it's been a bit since you posted this tut originally, but it's still WONDERFUL!  <3

=) <3 thanks again!

Wow!  I think this is one of the simplest and most direct ways to do a recessed zipper that I've seen.  Great work.

Hi everyone!
I was just wondering what the final dimensions of the bag are and how much fabric was used. I'm making a trip to NYC in a few weeks and this bag would be PERFECT! I love it!
Thanks,
Ashlee Smiley

It's a small bag, about 9 3/4" x 11". but you could always make it bigger.  Smiley
