I am not sure if this post is in the right place Huh .... anyhow...

I am making/coordinating costumes for a production of Wonder in Aliceland (that is actually what the play is called!) I is basically a revamped Alice in wonderland. Its is a bit more punk and spunk that your average Alice play. Anyhow, in one of the sceens with the queen in there is a big hip-hop dance number. There are 12 kids (7 girls and 5 boys) between the ages of 11 and 15. The dance is edgy and almost sexy although not in a way that would make it unsuitable for kids. I need to make them some great costumes which will not be restricting to dance in. My colour scheme for them is all red and black. I was thinking of using lots of big tshirts and reconstructing them in various ways.  I could also use some little tank tops in stretchy material for the girls.

If anyone has experience or tips about cutting, slashing and generically modifying tshirts i would be interested. Also if anyone has experience in dance and dance costume i would love any advice you have too!

Thanks a million!
Molly

You might find some inspiration from the designers Rodarte:  http://www.rodarte.net/
