I usually don't post projects because most of what I've been making lately is for swaps, and are therefore posted there, but then I realized that not everyone reads the swap boards, so I'm posting some of my favorite items I've sent over the last year.

This is pretty straight-forward. It's a patchwork circle twirly skirt based on vegebee's pattern. I made this for 2711 for the 12 Days of Christmas Swap. I used a different fabric for every square. I don't remember how many fabrics that took, but I think it was over 200. Luckily my bestest friend (jenicat) and I share our fabric stashes Wink 2711 wanted a skirt that was "random fabrics" rather than stripes of colors like a lot of the rainbow ones are, and I think this is pretty random Cheesy

I finished the bottom with a serger because there was NO WAY IN HELL I was going to hem all that!! (Under normal circumstances I might have - although probably not - but as I had to make 78 items for that swap, hemming was out of the question Grin) I made a waistband out of a single piece of fabric (rather than doing a rolled waistband) and used a 1/3 elastic and 2/3 drawstring combo. As I was making it for someone else, I wanted there to be some flexibility in case I made it too big or too small - this way there's plenty of room for adjustability. (spell check doesn't seem to think that's a word - spell check might be right, but I like it!)

I don't have any other photos unfortunately, but I am pretty sure 2711 posted some in the 12 Days 2008 gallery. I also don't have any action shots because it didn't fit me Sad

I want to make myself one, but it's a lot easier for me to put the time and effort into one of these for someone else than for myself. That seems sort of crazy, doesn't it?

Awesome !  LOVE it !  Funny, I am so into hand work, and machine phobic, I'd actually rather hand hem that skirt than sew all those squares together by machine !  LOL

I have a skirt very similar to this.  Only I was lazy and have a few doubles in there.  What a great, colorful addition to a wardrobe.

So pretty!  And I was going to say that even before I noticed who had posted it!  Wink

I'm glad you're finally allowing some of your things to see daylight so others can comment on how lovely they are!  And you know I'll never make myself one of these either, even though it was fine for a swap.
