I was pretty impressed with myself for deciding to use a real shell for the snail.  I have tons of them lying around too, so I'm sure there will be more happy snails in my future.

I think you are thinking of wet felting.  There is no water involved in needlefelting, only dry fibers and a barbed needle, and you just stab until you are satisfied. Smiley   I'm sure there are how-to links around here somewhere....

I LOVE the monster's beard!  I have never needle-felted, but I certainly enjoy this craft.
