Hi there, I am in the process of strating to search for people to sew my line of wholesale dog collars, leashes and dog beds (preg_replace('/(.{19})/', '$1 ', 'www.urbandogfitters.com')) and have no idea how to offer payment since I have been given drastically different quotes from different suppliers. Given the following info, do you think should I pay per piece? Per hour? And how much?

I supply and precut all the materials needed except for needles and bobbins and pins (also except for the dog beds where I only supply the materials but leave cutting to the individual sewer since patterns are always changing). Collars and leashes consist of sewing the pre-cut ribbon trim onto the pre-cut webbing and then adding hardware. For an idea of how long this takes, I can make 8-10 collars an hour and ~7 leashes per hour depending on the number of thread color changes. I don't make the dog beds so please have a look on the website and let me know how long it would take you/cost.

Hi there,

I took a look at this because I am near Cochrane but thought I would share my opinion! Ive only done 2 sewing projects and Im not sure how much you should pay. I think if you factor in how much you can sell them for, minus your costs, then you should have some figure to work with that might help narrow down a range of pay.

I would for sure pay the sewers by the item and not by time! Especially for the collars and leashes.

Hope I could help in some way.
Take care.
