Yaaay! I just finished my first soap ever! I just melted glycerin soap, so I didn't really make the soap, although I'd like to try that too, but I scented the white part with vanilla. The other part of the soap is colored and scented with cocoa powder. I added native coconut oil for better smell. I hope you like it Smiley

from the thumb nail I didn't even realize it was soap. I thought you had a real cameo.
That's some really awesome soap. Sounds like it smells good too.

Wow, thank you very much for the kind words! Smiley I never thought you might like it that much. Haha, now I'm even more happy Wink

@ehinders: Is a plastic mold a traditional mold? I'm really new to this, so I have no idea! Hm well, I didn't make the mold myself, so I guess it's a traditional mold. But I think it might be fun to use minted chocolate boxes or things like that as a mold!

@Nymeria: It is really just unsweetened cocoa powder! A lot of it though ^^

Oh! You know what? I read that in your original post and I guess it just didn't process with me (it's really not easy being blond...). That *totally* makes sense! I love using cocoa powder as a colorant and that is an excellent use of it!

This made me smile - because I have a thing about both soap and cameos, *and* today I made melt and pour soap for the first time ever too, *and* I had decided to buy this very cameo mould from the company I got the m&p stuff from! Great minds think alike :-)

Thanks for the lovely comments everyone! Smiley

This made me smile - because I have a thing about both soap and cameos, *and* today I made melt and pour soap for the first time ever too, *and* I had decided to buy this very cameo mould from the company I got the m&p stuff from! Great minds think alike :-)

creepy thing is: you possibly won't believe this but I read a bit here and there on craftster a day or two ago and saw a comment posted by you and instantly loved your signature. So I "stole it" and used it for my ICQ status the day I made the soap!  Shocked
And really the same mould? Today I tried the single rose and the vase aaand the cameo bottom without cameo. I like them too, but the cameo is my favourite Wink I'd love to see your creations! When you upload them, could you perhaps send me the link or post it in here? That'd be nice!

back to topic: I just made another one. I used white vanilla for the top again, but this time I coloured the bottom part with cinnamon. Turned out great and added a good smell even though I didn't use very much cinnamon! Sadly in my town there is no shop where I could purchase fragrance oils. I think it's generally difficult to get for example cookie scented or caramel scented oil which you can use for soap making in germany. It's a pity!

And I have to say: I do have a general cameo obsession. I love cameos on pill boxes, jewelry, soaps of course... I don't know why, but that is the way it is!  Grin

To me they are a timeless, classic feminine image. I'm a pretty masculine dresser and person, but I have a cameo necklace that makes me feel like prim, proper Victorian lady! (in my docs and ripped jeans... whatever it takes, right??  Grin)

ETA: Oh, and I love, love the cinnamon one. It reminds me of some stone, but I can't think of the name...

whoa I love feedback! Thanks to everyone Smiley

I should tell you a secret: I never used one of my soaps myself xD I bet I would feel terrible Wink I use store bought cream soap - shame on me!

Hmm I already thought about opening a shop on etsy or dawanda (german equivalent), but I'm not sure. I knit a bit, I crochet a bit, I scrapbook, make some cards, paint, sew a bit, make soaps, knead things from poly clay... I can do a bit of everything, but nothing so very good, that is why I never really opened a shop. But I'm glad to hear some of you would buy my soap! That makes me happy =) Perhaps I should give it a try!

OMG mitchell-b, I have had the same mold for quite some time now.

I LOVE your soaps btw very pretty and creative, and thank you so much for posting these, you gave me the courage to go ahead and give a try and they came out pretty nice. I have never done soaps either so I just added some scent and color, I didn't use anything creative. Also I'm going to give them to my friend that loves cameos for her b-day that's coming up. I used purple as its my friends fav color for the bottom part.

Now I really want to try adding cocoa and cinnamon!  Grin and I really wanna try a beer soap too now  Shocked, but I need to really look into soaps more, before I get too ambitious. I'm glad you got on the front page!

BUT thank you thank you for posting these beautiful soaps!

Thanks again ^^ I just realized this got the "project of 2009" award! Lucky me Cheesy

I bought the mold. I ordered it from a creative shop on the internet, but i'm afraid they only sell their stuff to customers in germany :/

To get the clean cut between the light and the dark part I just waited for the light part to completely cool down, before I poured the dark part of the soap into the mold. No magic, really. ;-)
