Hi,

Every year I try and make something for my husband for our anniversary.  Either from the traditional or contemporary list.  This year (5th) both lists said wood.  Eek!
I have cut the odd bit of wood but have never attempted furniture or anything till now.
We were given quite a few cut lengths of Kwila a while back and they have such a lovely colour I knew I wanted to use it.  It took me a couple of weeks and I managed to drill my hand once, (it's a hardwood and I kept breaking drill bits), but I am really happy with how it turned out and I think I surprised the hell out of hubby!

That turned out great!  I love the clean lines of the butcher block style.  And your cute little....junipers?

I love this style of bench! I have only really seen it's cheap plastic sibling, but this looks absolutely amazing! You did a wonderful job, and he's going to love it as well! It's a gift that keeps giving! Smiley

I love the style.  I'm planning to make something similar to this for myself.  I'm curious though.  where does kwila come from?  I've heard of lots of different species of wood, but this one is new to me.
