Cake galore

As I have said in past posts, I love to make cakes and am always trying out new ideas and techniques. Here are a few recent ones.

This is a three layer orange butter cake with orange mousse filling and thin chocolate between the layers.

This was my daughters birthday cake. She loves monkeys. The frosting looks crappy because her favorite is chocolate pudding and cool whip. Tastes great but hard to make look good! I made the monkey out of chocolate molding paste. Fun to work with and tastes better than fondant!

Deep chocolate cake with hazlenut mousse filling and raspberry buttercream

Carrot spice cupcake with cream cheese frosting and a dried pineapple flower. I made the flower by thinly slicing the pineapple and dehydrating it in the oven.
My nieces birthday cake. A real girly girl.

They all look so pretty.  My favorite is the orange one on top.  The frosting looks amazing.  I bet they taste as good as they look too.  Darn, now I'm hungry.

I love the first cake and the cupcake looks gorgeous. The one that sounded the best to me is the one with hazelnut and raspberry. Two of my favorite flavors. Yum.

I adore the flowers on the first cake and the two shades of brown icing.  Very pretty, and, well, chocolatey looking, and I can't really resist chocolate.

The pineapple flowers were quite a clever idea.

The monkey looks adorable! And I think the frosting looks delectable. I also love the pinneapple flower cupcake...they all look great!
