I see that this board tends to be kind of slow, but I was daydreaming about taking a trip to fabric row this upcoming saturday.  And I thought to myself...ooh I could ask craftster where they like to shop on fabric row...

So any ideas?!

I like Kinkus Fabrics (Huge selection of cotton prints)- There is also "Pennsylvania Fabric Outlet" which has a hit or miss selection for fabric, but very good prices on what they do have- it's a good place to buy zippers

Cool, thanks for your suggestions.

I usually go to the local Joann Fabrics and then I remembered...wait I live like 20-25 minutes from Fabric Row what am I doing!!

Fabric row trumps Joanns any day of the week. I'm a crocheter, but I frequent Fabric row with my good friend [seamstress] and just being there makes me feel alive. Hope you found some good treasures!

Huh.  The only time I went to fabric row I felt really uncomfortable.  I just wanted to look around and see what struck my fancy, and every store person wanted to know EXACTLY WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR.  They seemed really annoyed by browsers.

You just really need to watch how things are measured and priced. Sometimes they are a little off..

oddly enough I hated fabric row.  There was only one store with any fabric worth a grain of salt and the price for one yard was outrageous.  AND I agree I feel like everyone needed to back off a bit.  Not everyone goes fabric shopping with an exact fabric in mind.  I like to look around for inspiration.  I went to Joann's later that day and actually found a nice fabric for much cheaper...either way I didn't buy anything that day.  I was really disappointed.  Not to mention the day  I went ended up being very cold and rainy...AND it seemed like all of Philadelphia's seedy characters were walking along fabric row that day.

I've never had a problem in the shops on Fabric Row. I'm always asked if I'm looking for something specific, but only once in a visit then they leave me alone until I ask for help. Maybe those shops are geared more towards professionals rather than hobbyists?  My favorite place by far is Kinkus (so many options for pink faux fur!).
